This year, California’s Presidential Primary happens earlier, along with others. They call it Super Tuesday, February 5th. So, if you want to take part in the big vote, make sure you are registered.

Our Elections officials have let us know that the last day to register to vote in the February Primary is January 22nd. If you have changed your mailing address or home address, or want to change your party affiliation, you have to fill out a new voter registration card.

Cards are available at post offices, libraries, DMV and some county offices.
Mono Elections’ Christy Robles pointed out that cards filled out at DMV can take as long as 3 to 6 months to reach the Mono Elections Office. Call either Inyo or Mono Elections’ Departments for help.

The other election wrinkle – those not registered in a particular party can vote for a Democratic or Independent candidate. The Republican Party did not agree to open its candidates to what is called “crossover” voting.
